I’m sure I’m not the only one complaining, and the matter has been touched on previously by another resident in the Middelburg Observer’s letters page.
Quite frankly I’m too scared to address the guilty bikers personally and I’m also unsure whether the local traffic department doesn’t feel the same.
Is it really necessary to revv your motorcycle into the red, speed up and down and keep the entire town awake at night?
Why does it have to be late night and predawn when bikers pull their shenanigans?
After a hard day’s work, many of us desperately need a good night’s rest.
Some bikers have no respect for the community in which they live.
End of the month, half month, Wednesdays, Sundays; they just don’t worry.
It’s especially bad on Sunday mornings when the gangs pull out for the so-called breakfast runs, at speed three times that of the allowed limit.
They drive well in excess of 120km in 60km zones, often popping wheelies and burnouts in the centre of town.
Bikers leaving pubs like Tracers and the old reservist canteen concern me deeply because it means alcohol has been consumed before the bikers go on their loud, merry way.
Speed, alcohol and a false sense of bravado make these bikers an unbearable nuisance.
Can the traffic department please do their work!
