Dertig open again
After being closed for some time, Dertig Tavern had its name cleared and is open for business again.
Mr King Tholo, owner of the popular tavern, was unhappy because he was forced to close his business’ doors after a murder last Saturday.
Mr Tholo said that a man entered their premises whilst they were busy cleaning and died shortly thereafter.
Dertig Tavern was closed down after allegations that the man died in a fight that started and ended inside the tavern. This was not the truth. Mr Tholo said that he was very unhappy with the initial police investigation.
“The tavern was closed for the night. The music was off and we were busy cleaning. The doors were closed but not locked. All of a sudden a man ran inside and collapsed. We called the police and ambulance.”
“Dertig Tavern is a good place to chill. We are not murdering people. Unfortunately you cannot control what happens outside the tavern.”
This is the first person to ever die inside his tavern Mr Tholo said. He said that it was such a macabre incident and that he is convinced that it could happen anywhere to anyone.
Mr Tholo say that although the police did take down statements, the eyewitnesses who saw everything happen was never asked to give one.
• Since the inverview with Mr Tholo, he was approached by the police and the matter was resolved. “We are open for business again and very happy about that.”
