Observer truck burned

A Middelburg Observer delivery truck loaded with newspapers was set alight yesterday in Thembisa, Mhluzi.

According to the truck driver, a group of men approached them with knifes, stabbed the tyres and forced them out of the truck.

The men then allegedly petrol bombed the vehicle, leaving it in ashes.

The truck drivers were not injured and rumours have been circulating that the men took and sold some of the newspaper in the street.

“We have suffered an estimated loss of R 400 000 in total,” said Billy Richards, factory manager at the Middelburg Observer.

A case of arson is being investigated and no arrests have been made.
