Fire at O’Grady’s
A woman was hospitalised following a fire at O'Grady's Paint in Celsius Street on Monday afternoon.
Initial indications revealed damages to the building and gallons of paint.
Michelle Combrink, who is a front desk salesperson at O’Grady’s, suffered a lung infection and had to be rushed to Midmed Hospital.
According to reports, a 750 ml tin of turpentine was left outside in the sun and ignited due to a chemical reaction.
The fire started suddenly and spread to one part of the building, fuelled by all the paint.
The fire department responded promptly to the scene and extinguished the fire before any further damages were sustained.
Management refused to comment on the matter.
