Tshwenyane gets six laptops

Two educators from Germany and Labdoo, donated six new laptops to learners with special educational needs at Tshwenyane Combined School on Wednesday.

The class consists of 28 pupils the majority of which cannot read or write. Ms Sarah Mahlangu, teaches them arts and crafts from recycled materials.

The laptops donated have specialized programmes installed for people with special needs. The teachers brought along five students to assist them in providing training to the pupils on how to use the laptops.

The two teachers from Germany, Ms Aynur Urker and Mr Rudi Kretschmer, have built a school in Emalahleni and are no strangers at Tshwenyane Combined School. They have been visiting the school for the past ten years working to improve education.

The German Province of North Rhine Westphalia (NRW) is in partnership with the Mpumalanga education department.

“We are very grateful for their assistance and contribution, we have been working with them for many years. The laptops will improve the knowledge and also lives of these pupils,” said Mr Leseba Mabusela, principal of Tshwenyane Combined School.

“We can see the children are having so much fun, they are so smart and fast. It’s very important to learn computer skills because of the evolving digital age,” said Ms Urker.

“We also love the talents they have, it’s interesting and beautiful. They can in the future make a living out of the items they make,” added Ms Urker.

Labdoo is an organization that recycles laptops from companies and donates them to the needy.

The educators and students from Germany will once again tour Mhluzi and visit a sangoma this week courtesy, of Something Out of Nothing.
