Farouk Sulliman: It would be a historic moment for Middelburg to be awarded the kykNET Kwêla Town of the Year title.
Therefore, I humbly urge each and every resident of out town to contribute, by only sending a SMS.
It is indeed an honour and privilege to have been chosen as a finalist in this prestigious competition.
Furthermore, we need to commend the mayor, Cllr Mike Masina, the heads of municipal departments, and all the schools, churches, businesses like HR City and the Middelburg Observer, as well as individuals like Dr Kobus Terblanche, Friena Scholtz and their helpers at the Town of the Year steering committee, for their continual efforts to win Middelburg the coveted crown of Town of the Year.
If the rest of us show equal pride in our town, the title is in the bag.
The award would mean a significant economic boost, which would see our lovely town’s name reverberate around the world.
One can hardly imagine the positive spin-offs Middelburg would enjoy by being voted Town of the Year, by its residents.
How can you as an individual support this venture?
