Video: Truck driver arrested

An Engen truck driver pushed a car sideways off the old eMalahleni Road after he thought that the driver of the car, from Sizabonke Sewage Suction and Plumbing, wanted to hijack him.

The driver of the truck was arrested for reckless and negligent driving.

The driver of the vehicle, Mr Aubrey Mmonoa was underway from eMalahleni on the Voortrekker Road and driving towards Middelburg in the left lane. When he stopped at the red traffic robot next the OTK the truck driver stopped next to him. The truck drivers lane was marked with a one-way right turn arrow meaning he can only turn right.

When the robot turned green the truck driver suddenly decided to go straight on, in stead of turning right and scratched Mr Mmonoa’s company vehicle.

Mr Mmonoa indicated to the truck driver with his hand, to pull over so that they can exchange information for insurance purposes.

But the driver of the truck continued driving, indicating with his hand against his throat that he will kill Mr Mmonoa.

Mr Mmonoa followed the truck driver all the way to Middelburg and tried to contact the eMalahleni police, who didn’t answer the phone.

He then phoned his superior, Ms Gwen Pretorius, who informed members of Middelburg 911, who contacted the local police.

About two kilometers from town on the old eMalahleni Road the driver of the truck, went into the right lane and deliberately pushed Mr Mmonoa’s vehicle sideways off the road.

Aside from shock, Mr Mmonoa luckily, didn’t obtain any injuries.

The driver of the truck was pulled over and arrested.
