Judge a crime victim

A judge currently visiting Middelburg for a murder trial in High Court, fell prey to remote thieves in the Middelburg CBD.

It is said that judge M.A. Makune parked his vehicle in the parking lot at the Wonderpark shopping center before going to Wimpy to enjoy a coffee.

Upon his return he found that his laptop, 3G charger and briefcase containing books were missing. There were no visible signs of entry.

The incident caused the murder trial where Marcus Madi and Saul Mavimbela are accused of murdering Walkie Walkinshaw of Belfast in 2013, to be delayed whilst judge Makune reported the theft at the Middelburg police station.
