Truck ploughs through cars, people

Two people died when a transport truck's breaks failed and it ploughed into a line of cars waiting at a stop and go near the Modderspruit bridge on the R555.

An eyewitness said that traffic was backed up for kilometres and that they had to wait for the road to open until well after dark.

Col. Ronel Otto, Limpopo police spokesperson, said that four trucks, two bakkies and one car were damaged during the incident.

The two men, who were part of a team doing repair work to the badly damaged R555 have been identified as Michael Mabuda and Thabetho Andile.
