DA Walkover
The Democratic Alliance lost eight members to the African National Congress last Friday 11 July 2014 following allegations of "white empowerment" within the party.

“The Democratic Alliance internal processes do not advance the interest of black people,” said Josais Motsoeneng who is a former Steve Tshwete Councillor.
The DA lost four staff members including their Provincial Bookkeeper: Sarbhera Amod, Sifiso Ngomane, Daniel Maseko and Prosperous Bam, Three councillors: Josais Motsoeneng, Jacob Buthelezi and Phakiso Mphuti and an activist, Nhlanhla Masinga.
The eight resigned with immediate effect and joined the ANC.
The Thaba Chweu Bi-Election which will take place on August 13 is said to have started the unhappiness.
The former members say that the selection process was not fair as the position was not advertised, they further claim that the DA has no faith in black leadership and black communities “as the DA does not allow opportunities for black leaders in white dominated wards” hence their resignation.
DA’s Anthony Benadie says the allegations are not true, they left because of a personal, self interest agenda.
He further says that the Electoral College and Selection Panel is responsible for interviewing and selecting candidates fairly, he has no jurisdiction as per their constitution.
The DA Mpumalanga leadership was commended on being one of the best demographics he said.
