Election posters still hanging

With the National Elections already a week behind us, some political parties have failed to remove campaign posters scattered all over town.

Only two parties posters are still hanging in our streets, that of ANC and EFF, which by now are tearing up and littering the sidewalks.

And the municipal by-laws are clear about this: “No poster or other advertisement shall be displayed for longer than three days after the day on which it terminates”.

According to the by-law, the municipality has a right to withhold deposit fees and impose a fine on those responsible.

Municipal Manager Willie Fouché could not be reached for comment on Monday morning in this regard.
