VIDEO: Revolutionary e-tags fitted at Ubhetyan to fight rhino poaching in real time
Ubhetyan O Africa made history this past weekend with the electronic real time tagging of two rhinos by world renowned veterinary surgeon Dr Peter Caldwell.
The tags will enable rhino owners to listen in on the animals via cell phone in real time 24/7.
The tag is activated by a number of risk factors like loud sounds close to the animal or even when the animal is running faster than normal.
The tags are designed and manufactured by Wild Spore and are also activated if an animal jumps a fence or remains still for too long.
The historic moment was captured by Discovery Channel and local video production company Antare.
