Video: Police negotiate hours with suspect
A five hour ordeal, during which dozens of police and CPF members surrounded a house in Middelburg Central ended when a suspect surrendered.
Members of the public, including the pastor who saved the day, are of the view that CPF members blew the incident out of proportion, showed no respect for passers-by, and blatantly lied to police claiming that the man stored ammunition and weapons in his home – prompting a heavy-handed response by police.
The incident unfolded late on Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Oos- and Koets Street.
