Video: Hundreds march demanding better care for the elderly
More than 100 people including the elderly and social workers marched from Pick 'n Pay to the Middelburg Court Building where a memorandum was submitted to the head of the Magistrates Court, Sanet du Plessis, pleading for more vigilance when dealing with elderly abuse.
The march was part of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Campaign and a was supported by representatives from a number of organisations caring for the elderly.
They also handed a memorandum at the Middelburg Hospital, demanding better care for vulnerable elders.
