Cash in transit heist
No one was injured when a group of armed men managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money during a brazen cash in transit heist in the Middelburg Mall parking lot.
According to an eyewitness who was enjoying breakfast at the Lonestar Spur in the Mall, the incident happened around 08:30 on Sunday morning.
Three armed men, driving in a white Ford Focus with no number plates, pounced on the G4S guards shortly after they have exited the mall entrance three, on their way back to the armored vehicle. The robbers managed to take the canisters used to transport the cash from the drop-safes inside a business to the vehicle, without firing a single shot.
The Middelburg police could not be reached for comment.
