Boy ran over by car
Nine year old Thabo Malaza from Nasareth is forced to miss two quarters of his grade one class following an accident on his way from school.
On the 30th of July this year Thabo was walking from school with his older brother when a BMW, driven by an alleged drunk learner driver, hit him.
It is alleged that the 34 year old female (who can not be mentioned as she did not appear in court yet) made a u-turn on a busy road.
Thabo was in hospital for two months, he sustained serious injuries to his hip and broke both legs, he got 33 stitches on his left leg and 23 on his right leg. He relies on crutches to walk.
“This accident changed his life not just physically but mentally too. He is not the Thabo we know,” said Mr Enock Malaza (Father).
Thabo loves soccer and hopes he can recover soon so he can play again with his friends.
“We would like to thank the Middelburg Hospital staff, teachers from Middelburg Combined School and everyone that has been supportive during this difficult time,” said Mrs Nelly Malaza.
According to Lize de Wit of the SAPS the driver was charged with reckless and negligent driving. She also had no drivers licence.
The 34 year old has since been warned to appear in court in April 2016.
