Good news Newtown

Following complaints from Newtown residents on a trench which was dug to install bulk water services months ago, the Steve Tshwete Municipality has announced the appointment of new contractors to continue with the project from the 29 January.

The long trench was dug up right next to the main road into Newtown and what used to be a walkway. The residents biggest fear was of children falling into the big trench, which has become a dumping site as well.

The Municipality Department of Water and Sanitation has secured a Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) funding the initial works in the current financial year.

The trench has also been barricaded for safety reasons.

The municipality would like to thank residents for their patience in this regard.
