Truck driver drives away
A silver Volkswagen Touron with five occupants that was underway from Middelburg on the old Belfast road collided with a truck on Wednesday.
Two of the occupants of the Touron, Ms Maggie Matsileng and Ms Elizabeth Matlala, were slightly injured.
The truck turned right into a mine entrance while the vehicle was busy overtaking it.
According to the driver of the vehicle, Mr Yasser Dzivhani, the truck driver didn’t use his indicator.
The truck driver, Mr Norman Chikari, drove away from the accident scene and later came back by foot.
The traffic officers on the scene gave Chikari an informal warning for leaving and ordered him to fetch his drivers licence that was allegedly still inside the truck, to confirm his identity. Chikari alleged that Dzivhani was driving at a high speed and that he didn’t see the vehicle.
