Miracle man’s mom wants answers
The mother of the young man that miraculously survived after being hit by a train behind the banquet hall on 9 August, says that medical treatment of her son is being refused after his hospital file went missing.
Ms Celina Tlou, mother of Tobey who lost both his hands in the incident, told the Observer on Monday that skin grafts for Tuesday had to be cancelled due to his file disappearing.
She says that his father, Andries, who supported Tobey in hospital, passed away and his funeral took place last week, which left Tobey very depressed.
Tobey was admitted to hospital by his father on the night of his accident.
His father told the paper shortly after Tobey was hit by the train, that he was depressed and worry drove him to take Tobey to hospital for treatment for depression.
While Andries was busy speaking to the hospital staff, Tobey saw an opportunity to flee.
He left the hospital hoping that Tobey would run home, but instead he went to the railway track where he was struck by a train in the early hours of the morning.
A search was launched and police on the scene told the Observer that when the conductor reversed in an effort to search for a body, he found Tobey waving at him with bloody stumps before running away again.
In the search for Tobey, police found him dazed and confused at a shack where builders set up camp.
He was taken to hospital where both his hands were amputated.

Since his father’s passing, depression took hold of Tobey again, and Celina fears that with every passing day that necessary medical treatment is denied, his emotions would deteriorate further. “I was told that doctors refuse to operate on Tobey without a file,” Celina said, adding that patients could not be held responsible for the hospital’s negligence.
Hospital CEO, Mr Philemon Lethlalo, was not available for comment and failed to respond to messages left on his answering service.
