A smog monster enveloped the Industrial area on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the owner of Verwey Transportation and Propshaft Centre, Mr Steven Pieterse, the raging fire causing clouds of black smoke, was set alight deliberately.
“People pushing around trolleys set fire to tyres in order to get the wire in the tread to sell to the scrapyards,” Mr Pieterse said.
A trailer worth thousands was destroyed in the fire. Damages have not been estimated yet.
