It is alleged that the man raped a boy and also sexually assaulted him during 2008 to 2011.
The man, whose identity is being withheld because he is family of the victim, pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
He was released on R10 000 bail.
The case was previously postponed because the accused’s mother, who gave a statement to police, refused to testify against her son.
The case was postponed until October when trial will resume in the Sexual Offences court in Middelburg.
