Fire destroys home

A devastating fire destroyed that which the Ferreria family called home. Marie Ferreria from Extension 24, was woken up at 02:00 Sunday by her granddaughter to alert her of the fire.

The fire started in her sons shack which is just next to the house and spread uncontrollably to the other two shacks next to it and then ultimately to the four roomed main house.

Nobody was injured.

Mrs Ferrerias son known as “Uncle” was found outside screaming.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The whole family and tenants woke up to put the fire out by pouring water onto the flames, but it was too fierce.

Neighbours and community members also soon jumped in to assist.
