Students excel at Sub-Youth Championships
Athletes make podium at Central Gauteng Championships.
Two students, Christelle Grobler and Cayline van Rooyen, from Laerskool Oosterkruin, took part in the Inter-Provincial Sub-Youth Central Gauteng Championships, recently, at the Germiston Stadium.
Christelle won the u-11 shot put event when she threw 12.85m, and Cayline came third in both the 100m and 200m sprint events.
Both athletes are eagerly waiting to find out if they have qualified to participate in the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Sub-Youth Inter-Provincials, that will be held in Potchefstroom, on November 23.
You know what upsets me!!! There were 5 children from Laerskool Oosterkruin that took part in the championships and all of them received places but only these 2 were named!! They all made the team that represented Central Gauteng athletics at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Sub-Youth Inter-Provincials. Michayla Holder U/11 highjump was 3rd, Sonja Schutte U/13 1500m walk (fast walk) 2nd and Dante Lessing U/11 75m hurdles 3rd. Where is the the schools results for 2 girls that went to Gauteng for cross country?
