Bertha Gxowa Hospital comes under fire

Looking after your health or not?

“An angry Germiston resident” writes:

I would like to take a moment to comment on the shocking behaviour of the senior day staff and administration staff at Bertha Gxowa Hospital.

The hospital’s service to both the elderly and sick children in the district is extremely poor.

My father and mother-in-law recently visited the hospital with the intention of seeing a doctor.

They arrived at around 7am and, after hours and hours of waiting and being shuffled around, they left without having seen the doctor.

The complaints department could offer little to no answers or help to my father and mother-in-law.

The patients waiting are often informed that there is only one doctor on duty.

How is there only one doctor on duty at any given time?

I believe one of the reasons the hospital has such poor service delivery is because there are too many different staff members telling the patients who are waiting, what to do and often threatening them when they do not do as they are told.

The behaviour of the staff and the lack of doctors is completely unacceptable for a hospital.

I am incredibly disappointed with the service delivery and patient care.

Something needs to be done and the patients need to be treated with the care and respect they deserve.

  1. on the 16 jan 2016. I took my wife to deliver at the maternity. the labour started on the same day at 11 am and we reach the maternity at 9 pm. I was choked with the behavior of nurses and midwife who did not attend my wife on the same day. no update on my side and every time my wife was seeking help from them , they where shouting to her. from Thursday 9pm, she only got the drip on Wednesday 11h 30 pm. in fact the labour took 37 hours and the baby was suffocating in the womb. the mother delivred the baby by herself without any help from any midwife or nurse. the shoking part is the baby was left in the icu without any care, whilst the place is called” intensive care unit”. the nurses on duty where only busy chatting with their phone instead of paying attention to the sick babies. whenever i ask them to see the doctor. they tells me, there is no doctor on duty and the doctors comes only during the week. my baby was left on oxygen from Saturday 1 am until sunday 12h00. without any care . I tried to push to see the doctor , it when I realized there where no drip entering into the nody of my son.
how can an hospital run without doctors on weekend?
why are all these midwife and murses careless?
why did they condemn my innocent son to die?
if they are short of staff why they don’t employ more staff?
is it fair to be treated like this?
I am writing this for everyone to be careful when you get to that hospital.
