The Germiston police embarked on stop-and-search operations in Dukathole, last Tuesday.
During the operation police members found dangerous weapons (knives and pangas) at the back of a tavern, in Selani Drive.
“The seized goods were handed in at the Germiston Police Station for destruction by WO Herbert Selolo, the liquor officer for the Germiston SAPS,” said WO André de Jager.

Well done to germiston police officers for their excellent job. I have lost a father in Dukathole as a result of brutal murder in July 2012 because of the use of such weapons and if police continue with their stop-and-search around that area, more lives would be spared as these dangerous weapons will be confiscated from the would be attackers. I urge all members of the SAPS in Germiston patrolling Dukathole to embark of stop-and-search operations on a daily basis if that is possible. Once more well done to WO Herbert Selolo and his colleagues for seizing all those dangerous weapons
All those dangerous weapons were found at the back of a tavern. That’s not good enough. It would have been way better if all those knives were found on individuals, following successful prosecutions against those individuals. Finding a bunch of dangerous weapons at the back of a tavern means a single prosecution and a single charge. Not impressive enough, the SAPS must find these weapons on individuals while they are out there walking the streets armed! That would be real success.
