Eight-year-old Caylin du Toit came into the Germiston City News offices last Friday, March 28, to drop off her entry for the colouring-in competition the GCN is currently running.
The GCN’s receptionist, Christina Radebe, is ready to collect all the entries that are brought into the office.

Dear Sir/Madam
Allow me to express my anger on the way the power cuts occur in Tedstoneville. There was a power cut which happened in Wednesday 2 April 2014 in the afternoon. There was no explanation from the concerned authority. I really wonder why they expect us to vote them in May when they cannot tell us why we do have power. What is the job of the public relations office in Ekurhuleni? Why does he or she go to work every day? And as I typed this letter on the 4th April at 16:00 hours there was still no electricity. It is clear that the power cuts are being “stage managed” since the adjacent industrial areas and the rail network do not have power cuts at all.
We also need to know why electricity in Ramaphosa is NEVER switched off. Can we conclude that it is because it is an RDP section and therefore most people there got free houses and are ANC voters? We need an explanation as to why power loss is recurrent. Does the mayor also get such power cuts in his residence wherever it is? We are fed up.
