Members of the Primrose police and the Crime Prevention Youth Desk recently organised an anti-drug operation in the Makause informal settlement.

The operation, lead by Capt Patricia Fakude, was organised at the urging of the Youth Desk.

During the operation, that took place on February 22, several dagga plants were uprooted and confiscated.

“Capt Fakude is impressed with the Youth Desk’s determination.

“This operation and future operations, of the same nature, will help in the fight against drugs,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

  1. The real crime here is the law prohibiting dagga. We all know that dagga is a harmless, mild stimulant posing no harm or risk to anyone. But the apartheid laws persist and the dagga prohibition is based on outright lies. The press continues to perpetuate these lies.
The truly astounding part of this exercise is that 45 people are murdered every day… 160 rapes per day and 260 cases of fraud every day… Do the SAPS have the time to tackle dagga? why are the press reporting on harmless dagga?
Who smokes dagga? Judges, doctors, surgeons, parliamentarians, Kings, musicians, actors, farmers, priests, police… millions of South Africans are self-medicating with dagga everyday – are all these people criminals? are they wrong?
It is ok for the colonialists drugs to be legally sold, even the most deadly killers, tobacco but dagga remains illegal… the law is rotten and our leaders are rotten – stop the apartheid laws, they are wrong and unjust. thank you.
