The SAPS Victim Identification Centre conducted DNA samples on the family members to determine whether their DNA matched the deceased.
\nThe families were told that the samples will only be available in two weeks.<\/p>\n

The MEC of Public Works, Gillion Mashego, said human error was to blame for the accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this incident, the driver of a bakkie overtook the truck and distracted the driver of the taxi, the bakkie itself went into a ditch,\u201d said MEC Mashego.
\nThe incident occurred on the N11 between Middelburg and Hendrina.<\/p>\n

Eight of the victims were travelling from eMalahleni where they were undergoing an induction.
\nThe ninth person\u2019s identity is unknown.<\/p>\n

The MEC from the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Gabisile Shabalala, said her department has launched a road safety campaign that encourages motorists to take breaks when travelling.<\/p>\n
