The Building Control Department of Steve Tshwete obtained a court order at the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court ordering Lettie Tobogo Dos Santos, the owner of 35 Meyer Street (commonly known as the ‘Silver Gate House’) to obtain a certificate of occupancy within 30 days or face further steps.

The move comes after the Building Control Department found that 35 Meyer Street is in breach of a municipal bylaw in terms of how many occupants are allowed on the premises.

The occupancy certificate however cannot be issued because the premises has not been rezoned from a residential house to a boarding or guest house.

Further steps will be taken if Mrs Dos Santos does not comply with the court order in due time.

• It was learned from a trusted source that in August, during operation Basadi, a planned raid at the said brothel was scrapped by a senior police official moments before it was about to take place. The reason given was that a similar operation was already planned. Three months later, it is business as usual at the house.

Read other stories here:

Best friends in tragic accident

Dam val 25 mm per dag!

Video: Hoop op reën want on dam is leeg!

Weather for the week

Video: Nuut by Kleinbegin

Honde vergiftig

Video: Donkie gebore tydens ongeluk

Send a message to our SMS line 33658 or add us onto Facebook and Twitter to receive your free daily news updates.

Also check out our Video’s on Youtube daily!

[2885,7,2

post-58707","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-crime-news","category-local-news","category-news-headlines
["GET
