{"id":43113,"date":"2016-02-18T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-18T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/echonews.sites.caxton.co.za\/43113\/foreign-shopfront-trashed\/"},"modified":"2016-02-22T08:29:27","modified_gmt":"2016-02-22T06:29:27","slug":"foreign-shopfront-trashed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/middelburg-observer\/news-headlines\/2016\/02\/18\/foreign-shopfront-trashed\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Foreign shopfront trashed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Felicia Ann Nkosi says that she was greeted by a dump of smelly and rotten food at her African Food shop entrance, in the walkway between Walter Sisulu and Iraq Taxi rank, on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Her shop was the only one affected and she is convinced that it is not related to the strike.<\/p>\n<p>When she reviewed her security cameras she saw two women, dressed in the recognizable red overall coats worn by municipal cleaners, carrying a crate towards her shop.<\/p>\n<p>At the door one of the women, wearing rubber gloves, took a black bag filled with rubbish from the crate and emptied it on to the floor. Thereafter they simply walk off.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened at 05:47.<\/p>\n<div class='tie-fluid-width-video-wrapper tie-ignore-fitvid' style='margin-bottom: 30px;'>\n\t\t\t<iframe style='width: 100%; min-height: 300px; aspect-ratio: 16\/9;' src='https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/r20bFyvGELk' loading='lazy'><\/iframe>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;People have been saying that maybe they did this because it is a foreign owned shop. But the women on the video is very old and I don&#8217;t know them so I do not know why they would do something like that,&#8221; Ms Nkosi said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those women are wicked! What they did is wicked!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The video footage was sent to the Steve Tshwete Municipality for review but feedback could not be obtained at the time of going to press because of the ongoing strike.<\/p>\n<p>Municipal spokesperson, Prudence Magutle, said that the municipal cleaners, as well as contract cleaners who do work for the municipality, wear red overall coats.
