{"id":40067,"date":"2016-01-07T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/echonews.sites.caxton.co.za\/40067\/dramatic-rescue\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T16:01:15","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T14:01:15","slug":"dramatic-rescue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/middelburg-observer\/news-headlines\/2016\/01\/07\/dramatic-rescue\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Dramatic rescue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because of the remote location and a flooded bridge en-route to the scene, it took paramedics almost an hour to reach the place where the cargo truck overturned.<\/p>\n<p>They discovered a frantic man, with one of his foot soles missing, next to a crumpled truck cabin where his wife Eliza Lehong (31) and their three year-old son Adriaan Mngomezulu was trapped underneath.<\/p>\n<p>The boy\u2019s arm was the only thing sticking out of the mangled metal.<\/p>\n<p>A Life 24 paramedic, Carl Blake, managed to calm the boy, speaking to him whilst slowly digging him out from underneath the wreck.
