Thando Komane said that she was running errands for her mother last week Thursday. One of them was to deposit and withdraw money at First National Bank in O.R. Tambo Street.<\/p>\n
When she was done at the bank, she walked down Bhimy Damane Street towards Iraq Taxi Rank.<\/p>\n
She noticed a man walking behind her. At a dustbin near Lions Kelders Liquor Store, she noticed a large amount of cash, rolled up in a thick roll and placed in a see-through banking bag, lying next to a dustbin.<\/p>\n
The man she noticed earlier, picked it up. He saw that she also noticed the money and whispered to her to follow him so they can split their find.<\/p>\n
They walked past the taxi rank towards Wes Street and then past Cashbuilt. Whilst walking, the man asked her about what she was doing in the bank, what her name was and if she used a card to do her transactions. She noticed another man following them from a distance.<\/p>\n
A woman came running out of a business in Wes Street and called Thando to come to her. The woman ushered her into the building.<\/p>\n
Inside, she warned Thando against the man she was walking with.<\/p>\n
The woman, whose identity is unknown, said that the men lure their victims to a quiet area where they are robbed of their belongings and sometimes raped.<\/p>\n
The woman herself claimed to have fallen prey to the men.<\/p>\n
When they peeked outside, the men were gone.<\/p>\n
They are described as older, estimated to be in their 60’s, South African men. The one was wearing a blue cap and green overall jacket.<\/p>\n
W\/o Lize de Witt of the Middelburg police said that no rape cases have been reported in the area and that only one victim, a man, was robbed of his cellphone in the last month in the vicinity of Wes- and Ngwako Street.<\/p>\n
