We wanted to guide him as we were worried about him,” said Ms Nokuthula Mokoena, Mother of the deceased.

Mthandeni Mokoena was found by his father hanging on an electric cord from the ceiling on Monday morning before he was supposed to go to school, and on the floor an open packet of multivitamins tablets his mother took regularly.

“I had just got back from dropping my youngest son (6) at school to find Mthandeni’s lifeless body hanging. I was shocked, felt dizzy, this was really the worst thing ever,” said Mr Isa Tladi, Father of the deceased.

Mr Tladi immediately called his neighbours and went to the police station to report the matter.

According to Ms Mokoena Mthandeni was always in Extension 8 where his grandmother resides and that is where he met the corrupt friends he had.

“We don’t know what they got up to in Extension 8, but he was always home on time. We were worried that he might also end up like them,” said Ms Mokoena.

The reasons for Mthandeni’s suicide remains a mystery to his parents however a version came to the surface as Observer journalists asked around the area. It is alleged that Mr Mokoena was found with dagga and nyaope at school where he was suspended for a month, his parents found out about it and confronted him.

They had to go to the school to sort the matter on Monday. Sadly this did not happened as Mr Mokoena took his own life on the Monday morning.

“We honestly don’t know why he took his own life, we did look for a note but did not find it. My son did not have any symptoms of a person who is on nyaope. Yes, he had bad friends and did get out of line at times but if he was on nyaope I would have known,” said Ms Mokoena.

“He often took stuff in the house without our permission like money and small things but we don’t know what he used it for,” added Mr Tladi.

Mthandeni’s parents will miss their joyful son, who was full of life and loved soccer.

He leaves behind both his parents and his two brothers (6) and (18).

He was laid to rest on Thursday morning at the Tokologo cemetery in Mhluzi.

Send a message to our SMS line 37 940 or add us onto Facebook and Twitter to receive your free daily news updates.

Also check out our Video’s on Youtube daily!

The mystery of the sudden suicide of a teenager in Mhluzi Extension 2 deepened as rumours reveal the teen as a nyaope addict caught at school and by his parents, which the parents of the deceased deny.

[7,2

post-35231","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","category-news-headlines
["GET
