The second phase of the mall was opened last Thursday, 16 October. Middelburg Mall manager Mike Tammadge said that the new phase saw the amount of visitors to the mall more than double.<\/p>\n
29 000 people walked through the doors on Thursday, a big step up from the usual average of 13 000 people per day.<\/p>\n
Mr Tammadge said that the increased amount of shoppers were not only experienced in the new phase but there was also significantly more visitors to the first phase.<\/p>\n
Restaurants like John Dory’s and Panarotti’s were fully booked with Cappuchino’s and Spur in the first phase of the Mall also cashing in on the increase in visitors.<\/p>\n
“We had a good spill over from the second phase to the first one with an overall report of increased sale.”<\/p>\n
Management at the new Super Spar, the anchor tennant of Phase Two, said that they had a good run over the weekend. The Middelburg Observer was sold out by Friday.<\/p>\n
Zahn Botha, of One Fine Beginning, said that they were blown away by the business they have done over the last couple of days.<\/p>\n
“I had to go and get extra stock a couple of times!”<\/p>\n
Johann Greyling of BT Books, who opened a new branch in the second phase, also confirmed that he is very happy with sales over the opening weekend.<\/p>\n
