The buses collided on a newly tarred stretch of the road which is being reconstructed on the Vandyksdrift route.<\/p>\n

According to the SAPS the driver of the smaller Quantum sprinter collided with a hi-occupancy Tilly\u2019s passenger bus shortly before 06:00.<\/p>\n

A passenger of the Tilly\u2019s bus died on impact alongside the driver of the Quantum.<\/p>\n

Four passengers from both buses were seriously injured while 50 others were treated for minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Quantum bus died on impact alongside one of the passengers of the high occupancy bus, during Tuesday morning’s head-on collision outside Blinkpan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The road had to be closed for emergency and recovery personnel to clear the chaotic scene.<\/p>\n

It is suspected that the multiple road signs which have been erected alongside the construction route, had caused confusion with one of the drivers, leading to the accident.<\/p>\n

The deceased had not been formally identified according to police.<\/p>\n

The SAPS confirmed that the sprinter was ferrying workers to Andrew Mining while workers en route to Kriel, occupied the Tilly\u2019s bus.<\/p>\n
