The hospital provides formula milk to specific patients including: mothers who are medically or mentally unfit to breastfeed, mothers on treatment contraindicated for breastfeeding, orphaned or abandoned babies or when the mother defaulted on second or third-line ARV’s.<\/p>\n
If a mother does not fall under the mentioned criteria to receive formula milk, the matter becomes a social issue.<\/p>\n
Social worker, Bongani, is urging residents to donate milk to the vulnerable patients.<\/p>\n
The following items are desperately needed:<\/p>\n
Cooking oil, rice, salt, soups, maize porridge, powdered milk, baby wipes, formula milk (infant feeding, pre-NAN pelargon 1 -3, Lactogen 1 – 4), feeding bottles, clothing from ages 0 – 18 months for all genders, maternity pads and other sanitary products, baby creams, toys\/teddy bears, and baby talcum powder.<\/p>\n
