{"id":100434,"date":"2019-08-19T14:26:57","date_gmt":"2019-08-19T12:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mobserver.co.za\/?p=100434"},"modified":"2019-08-20T12:56:44","modified_gmt":"2019-08-20T10:56:44","slug":"mayors-march-killing-people-albinism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/middelburg-observer\/news-headlines\/2019\/08\/19\/mayors-march-killing-people-albinism\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayors march against the killing of people with albinism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The marchers walked from the municipal grounds to the Middelburg Magistrate&#8217;s Court where the trial of the four men who allegedly killed a 13-year-old girl living with albinism and her one-year-old cousin is currently under way.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_100438\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-100438\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-100438\" src=\"https:\/\/mobserver.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2019\/08\/killing-2-Copy-520x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/92\/2019\/08\/killing-2-Copy-520x400.jpg 520w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/92\/2019\/08\/killing-2-Copy-300x231.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-100438\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Executive Mayor of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Bagudi Tolo and the Mayor of the eMalahleni, Linah Malatjie, marching to court.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thokozani Msibi, a traditional healer, Brilliant Mkhize, Themba Thobela and Knowledge Mhlanga, appeared on charges of murder before the High Court Division sitting in the Middelburg Magistrate&#8217;s Court on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The men allegedly entered the home of Gabisile Shabani (13) and her one-year-old cousin Nkosikhona Ngwenya (15-month old) in Emalahleni in 2018 and kidnapped the two children.<\/p>\n<p>Gabisile&#8217;s mutilated body was found in a shallow grave in Cullinan east of Pretoria and Nkosikhona&#8217;s body was found on the side of the N4.<\/p>\n<p>Msibi, Mkhize and Mhlanga are all pleading not guilty to the eight charges against them while Thobela pleaded guilty to all seven charges he is facing.
