The GCN has received reports of an accident on the N3, South bound, before the Heidelberg Road off ramp.<\/p>\n

William Ntladi, media liaison officer for the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services, confirmed that the accident, which involved a minibus, was caused by mechanical\u00a0failure.<\/span><\/p>

“The minibus\u00a0caught fire injuring\u00a0<\/span>16\u00a0<\/span>people, including\u00a0the driver.<\/span><\/p>\n

“A woman was declared dead on scene after fire fighters had to use\u00a0<\/span>extinguishers on her when her clothes caught fire.<\/span><\/p>

“Three more passengers suffered critical injuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Seven were treated for serious injuries with the remaining five occupants, which included the minibus’ driver being treated for minor injuries,” he said. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment.<\/p>\n
