Millions of South Africans are getting creative about planning their Casual Day outfits.<\/p>\n
\u201cApart from the obligatory sticker, they are preparing to celebrate spring,\u201d said Andrea Vinassa, media liaison for Casual Day.<\/p>
\u201cThe theme is \u2018Spring into Action\u2019, so take your inspiration from the birds and the bees, from new leaves and blossoms on the trees, and from nature all around.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can wear floral or animal prints, Hawaiian shirts with chinos, as long as you use a lot of colour.<\/p>
\u201cPut flowers in your hair, decorate a hat with paper flowers or just wear our Casual Day official golf shirt that you can buy from one of your local organisations.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut, most importantly, get your sticker, which is your ‘licence’ to participate on September 4.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vinassa said the donations go towards assisting people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour R10 donation will go towards providing education, job creation, transport, assistive devices and emotional support to people with disabilities, through the 500 organisations that participate,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe project (Casual Day) is owned by the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA),” said Therina Wentzel, national director of NCPPDSA.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the world economy in turmoil, and a decline in funding for NGOs from corporations and government, Casual Day is going from strength to strength, raising R28-million in 2014.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ecstatic about the response from South Africans.<\/p>\n
\u201cCasual Day is a lifeline for many organisations for people with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
