Officers from the Primrose Police Station were called to the Marathon informal settlement, recently, to intervene in an argument between two cousins.<\/p>\n

The officers requested that the complainant wait for them at the entrance to the informal settlement.<\/p>

When they arrived they could not find the complainant, and decided to enter the settlement on foot.<\/p>\n

During the patrol of the area officers found a man who fitted the description of one of the cousins who had reportedly been fighting.<\/p>

\u201cWhen the man saw the approaching officers he ran.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was cornered in a nearby shack,\u201d said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring a routine search of the suspect, a silver Norinco (firearm) with its serial number filed away was found.\u201d<\/p>\n

This gun was confiscated during the arrest of a 28-year-old man, charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 28-year-old was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and held at the Primrose Police Station, until his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.<\/p>\n
