{"id":95815,"date":"2015-08-01T08:10:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-01T06:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/95815\/a-million-calls-for-services-call-centre\/"},"modified":"2015-07-31T14:11:14","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T12:11:14","slug":"a-million-calls-for-services-call-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2015\/08\/01\/a-million-calls-for-services-call-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"A million calls for services call centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The metro\u2019s services call centre recently logged its millionth call since the new and improved service was launched in May, last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe million-call mark is a sign that the metro&#8217;s investment in the call taking centre and continuous efforts to improve its service is paying off,\u201d said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Last year, Ekurhuleni opened a revamped call centre through which citizens can contact the municipality to report incidents which require attention, including potholes, water leaks, burst pipes, electricity outages and more.<\/p>\n<p>The staff compliment was also boosted and over 200 agents were employed.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAll of these interventions have resulted in an efficient call centre which compares favourably with international best practice and leading private sector companies,\u201d said MMC for corporate and shared services, Queen Duba.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerformance has improved from 73 per cent of calls being answered within two minutes, to 96 per cent of calls being answered within an average of 40 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurthermore, the percentage of calls which are abandoned amounts to only 1.3 per cent of incoming calls and the duration of an average call is just over two minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The millionth call was received between 7.15pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 21.<\/p>\n<p>The call volume in May 2014 was 46 941.<\/p>\n<p>That number had almost doubled to 93 148 in June, this year.<\/p>\n<p>Gadebe encouraged residents to continue making use of the service, which is constantly being improved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe metro has linked the call centre to a performance system which monitors the efficiency of the services rendered by the call centre and other service departments within the municipality,&#8221;
