Germiston police have warned residents about criminal activities on the N3 and M2 highways.<\/p>\n

The incidents are reportedly taking place in and around the Geldenhuys Interchange.<\/p>

\u201cThe Germiston police warn motorists using these freeways to be vigilant while driving,\u201d said WO Andr\u00e9 de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston police.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the crimes are reportedly taking place in the late afternoon\/early evening.<\/p>

<\/div>\n

\u201cThe suspect and\/or suspects will place big rocks in a bag and leave the bag in a lane on the highway and then wait for an unsuspecting victim to drive over the rocks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the victim stops their vehicle to check for damage, the suspect and\/or suspects will then threaten them with a firearm and rob them of their personal belongings and cellphones.\u201d<\/p>\n

The community is urged to call the police when they are faced with incidents such as this.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather try and steer the vehicle to a well-lit area and call for police assistance,\u201d said de Jager.<\/p>\n
