{"id":92612,"date":"2015-06-26T08:55:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-26T06:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/92612\/holiday-safety-tips-for-children\/"},"modified":"2015-06-26T08:58:07","modified_gmt":"2015-06-26T06:58:07","slug":"holiday-safety-tips-for-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2015\/06\/26\/holiday-safety-tips-for-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Holiday safety tips for children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Din-Al-View CPF has issued the following safety tips for children who are enjoying their school holiday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrime won\u2019t stop just because of the holidays.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou need to be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times and not be distracted,\u201d said Jane Dijkman, public relations officer for the Din-Al-View CPF.<\/p>\n<p>Safety tips to keep in mind:<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep your cellphone and personal belongings out of sight in a bag or preferably in a pocket which closes.<\/li>\n<li>Tell an adult your destination and who your companions are before you go anywhere, as well as what activities you have planned.<\/li>\n<li>Use the \u201cbuddy system\u201d whenever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Always take a friend with you when you are going places or playing outside.<\/li>\n<li>When at home, do not answer your front door to any stranger.<\/li>\n<li>If you are alone, phone one of your parents or any other adult that you know and tell them what is happening.<\/li>\n<li>Report anything suspicious on the CPF Whatsapp group or CPF radio.<\/li>\n<li>Do not give any personal information such as your name, address, phone number etc to a stranger, even if they appear to know you.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0If you are out at the mall or another public place and someone enters your personal space, tell them loudly to move away.<\/li>\n<li>If someone tries to hurt you, scream, kick, fight, and even bite the person.
