After ten days without load shedding, residents have experienced load shedding two days in a row (Sunday and Monday).<\/p>\n
There is currently no load shedding taking place as Eskom has adequate generating capacity to meet the demand in electricity.<\/p>
However, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm – 9pm) mainly as a result of increased electricity demand.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm,\u201d said said Eskom\u2019s acting chief executive Brian Molefe.<\/p>
\u201cIn winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours.<\/p>\n
