{"id":89896,"date":"2015-05-20T14:56:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-20T12:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/89896\/breaking-thoughts-on-motorists-not-being-able-to-renew-licences-without-paying-e-tolls\/"},"modified":"2015-05-20T15:15:23","modified_gmt":"2015-05-20T13:15:23","slug":"breaking-thoughts-on-motorists-not-being-able-to-renew-licences-without-paying-e-tolls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2015\/05\/20\/breaking-thoughts-on-motorists-not-being-able-to-renew-licences-without-paying-e-tolls\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Thoughts on motorists not being able to renew licences without paying e-tolls?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa made this announcement in Cape Town, this afternoon, when announcing the new dispensation of Gauteng\u2019s e-tolls.<br \/>\n\u201cThe new dispensation that we are announcing today, is a product of our engagement at national as well as provincial level through engagement with our people from Treasury, Department of Transport, Sanral and the Gauteng government,\u201d said Ramaphosa.<br \/>\nHe said the public\u2019s concerns were taken into account.<br \/>\n\u201cA fair dispensation is being put forward for all to ensure the e-toll system is equitable, sustainable and more efficient,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nHere is what he said:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Buses and taxis with operating permits will be exempt from paying e-tolls.<\/li>\n<li>A single reduced tariff will be introduced to everyone. Light motor vehicle users who used to pay 58c\/km, will now pay 30c\/km, regardless of whether you have an e-tag or not.<\/li>\n<li>The monthly cap for light motor vehicle users will not be more than R225 a month if paid within 30 days, from R450 a month.<\/li>\n<li>There is no\u00a0change for infrequent users. People who drive under less than 30 gantries a year won\u2019t have to pay.<\/li>\n<li>Current outstanding fees will be reduced by 60 per cent. Users will have six months to settle their debts, dating back to December 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ridiculous.
