{"id":88526,"date":"2015-05-03T09:35:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-03T07:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=88526"},"modified":"2015-05-04T10:55:39","modified_gmt":"2015-05-04T08:55:39","slug":"mayweather-pips-pacquiao-on-points-to-retain-unbeaten-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/sports-news\/2015\/05\/03\/mayweather-pips-pacquiao-on-points-to-retain-unbeaten-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayweather pips Pacquiao on points to retain unbeaten record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following years of hype, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Floyd_Mayweather,_Jr.\" target=\"_blank\">Floyd Mayweather Jnr.<\/a> took on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Manny_Pacquiao\" target=\"_blank\">Manny Pacquaio<\/a> in a fight for the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>The fight started off slowly, with Mayweather having the upper hand in the first two rounds, but Pacquiao responded well in the third and fourth rounds.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Despite Mayweather looking visibly nervous prior to the fight, the encounter was fairly even until the latter rounds, during which he began to gain the ascendancy over Pacquaio.<\/p>\n<p>Pacquiao was unable to release his trademark volume punching, with Mayweather largely dictating the tempo of the fight.The judges had the fight in Mayweather\u2019s favour by 118-110 and 116-112 points apiece.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Mayweather still has one more fight left on his contract with Showtime Sports, and has yet to decide on an opponent for his final showdown in September.
