Carnival City and the Afrisun Trust recently heeded the local government\u2019s call for food and other basic supplies to offer relief to foreign nationals who were displaced as a result of xenophobic attacks on the East Rand.<\/p>\n

The partners purchased over R20 000 worth of groceries and other necessities which were distributed among the affected people in the refugee camps in Germiston.<\/p>

Local government provided temporary tents and toilets in demarcated areas to accommodate foreign nationals who had been chased from their homes as a result of the wave of xenophobic attacks.<\/p>\n

Most foreign nationals returned to their homes, last Thursday.<\/p>

\u201cCarnival City and the Afrisun Trust condemn the senseless attacks on foreign nationals in the Makause and Marathon informal settlements in Primrose.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the displaced people were young children and babies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are determined to work hard with our communities and government to ensure that we lend a hand where it is necessary to the affected people in these areas,\u201d said Afrisun CEO, Pumla Mutle.<\/p>\n
