A collision between two trains at the Denver Train Station in Johannesburg East, this morning, has left one person dead and another seriously injured.<\/p>\n
Russel Meiring, crisis communications for ER24, said that 241 patients were treated by paramedics at the scene.<\/p>
\u201cAt least one man has been killed and roughly 80 others injured this morning, when two trains collided at the Denver Train Station in Johannesburg East,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cER24 paramedics, along with various services, arrived on the scene and found the wrecked trains blocking the tracks completely.<\/p>
\u201cBent metal and parts of the train had been spread across the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
On assessment, paramedics discovered the driver of one of the trains had sustained fatal injuries in the collision.<\/p>\n
\u201cNothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene,\u201d Meiring said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt least 80 other patients were found on scene with injuries ranging from minor to critical.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne woman was found trapped between the train and wall.<\/p>\n
\u201cRescue services and paramedics worked to free the patient from the wreckage before treatment could continue.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce freed, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support and thereafter transported her by the ER24 medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The other patients who were found on scene were moved to a nearby platform where they were triaged and treated for their injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations,\u201d Meiring said.<\/p>\n
It is believed that the wreckage will take about six hours to clear which will delay train commuters to and from the Germiston area.<\/p>\n
