{"id":85226,"date":"2015-04-01T09:20:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-01T07:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/85226\/fifty-two-children-are-safer-on-the-roads-these-easter-holidaysordonations-keep-children-safe-in-cars\/"},"modified":"2015-04-01T09:36:27","modified_gmt":"2015-04-01T07:36:27","slug":"fifty-two-children-are-safer-on-the-roads-these-easter-holidaysordonations-keep-children-safe-in-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2015\/04\/01\/fifty-two-children-are-safer-on-the-roads-these-easter-holidaysordonations-keep-children-safe-in-cars\/","title":{"rendered":"Fifty-two children are safer on the roads these Easter holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In preparation for the upcoming Easter weekend, Cartrack and Wheel Well handed out 52 car seats to visitors to the East Rand Mall, in Boksburg, over the past weekend, as part of their \u201cCar Seats for Kids\u201d campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The sole purpose of the programme is to collect car seats from donors.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>These are cleaned, checked for defects, refurbished and made available to needy families who are encouraged to perpetuate the cycle once their children have outgrown the seats.<\/p>\n<p>The programme was founded by Peggie Mars and is supported by Cartrack, a leading vehicle tracking and stolen vehicle recovery provider.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe programme forms part of our &#8216;Is it worth it?\u2019 campaign, where we ask whether it is worth it to take a chance with the life of your child when that child is not strapped into a car seat?\u201d said Jacqui Marsh, marketing and communications manager of Cartrack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany families are, however, not in a position to afford a car seat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this in mind, Cartrack stepped on board in 2013, to aid Peggie and her team in their efforts to create awareness and to provide a means to ensure the safety of our children on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018Car Seats for Kids\u2019 programme is making major inroads in our attempt to raise awareness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are exceedingly proud of everyone\u2019s efforts thus far and are more determined than ever to continue making a difference on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Peggie, the generous donation of car seats goes far beyond the act of handing over a car seat to a needy recipient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is about planting a positive seed of thought in the minds of parents and caretakers about the vulnerability of their children in and around vehicles,&#8221;
