There has been yet another dog attack in Primrose.<\/p>
Last Tuesday evening, March 17, Cilia and Jorge Pereira took their dog on their usual walk.<\/p>\n
As they walked along Edlaw Street, they noticed a man standing outside a yard, talking to a delivery man.<\/p>
They knew this house had two dogs so they picked up their dog to try to avoid any trouble.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we walked past the open gate the two dogs ran out,\u201d Jorge explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cI chased the one back inside, but didn\u2019t notice the second one behind my wife, until it had bitten her on the leg.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cilia was bitten on her left calf.<\/p>\n
\u201cI confronted the man who had been on the pavement during the incident, and he said he was sorry, but explained that he wasn\u2019t the owner of the dogs, only a tenant on the property,” Jorge added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked if he knew if the dogs\u2019 vaccinations were up-to-date, but he couldn\u2019t give me a clear answer.\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple went to the Life Roseacres Clinic for treatment.<\/p>\n
Cilia had to have a tetanus shot and has started treatment for rabies, which involves a serious of injections given over a number of weeks.<\/p>\n
The couple then went to the Primrose Police Station, to open a case against the man who had left the gate open and allowed the dogs to escape.<\/p>\n
This case has since been withdrawn, after the couple spoke to the owner of the property and the dogs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we spoke to the owner he knew nothing about the incident,” Jorge said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is then that we decided to withdraw the case, on condition that, within two weeks, he would get the dogs\u2019 vaccinations up-to-date, or we would reopen the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were told that this is not the first time the dog has bitten someone, so we feel it\u2019s of the utmost importance to get their vaccinations up-to-date.\u201d<\/p>\n
The GCN has since attempted to make contact with the owner, without success.<\/p>\n
